About Kreider Mechanical
Kreider Mechanical Inc. “KMI”, formally Kreider, Ayers & Associates, Inc., has provided Mechanical Construction expertise for the installation of HVAC, Plumbing and Piping systems as well as Plumbing and HVAC Service, to Central and Southwest Virginia for Commercial, Institutional and Industrial customers since 1999. KMI works both with General Contractors and directly with Owners. We strive to provide a cost effective and on time on schedule project. Providing a safe work environment for our employees and others around us is a priority for all at KMI.
Incorporated in 1999, Kreider, Ayers & Associates, Inc. was founded by Kurt L. Kreider President, John F. Ayers Vice-President, Harold T. Cothran Vice President, John A. Kreider Board of Directors, Len Roberts Superintendent, Harry Smith Superintendent and William Cook Superintendent. Since 1999 KMI has successfully completed over $100M in projects.
Kurt Kreider
President
Kurt has over 38 year’s experience in the design and construction industry. In addition to his role as President Kurt is still presently involved in Project Management. Kurt is a 1982 graduate of Virginia Tech with a BSME degree.
Chris Ransom
Estimating/Project Management
Chris currently oversees all project estimating and does project management. He has over 25 years experience in the industry and originally started his career in Plumbing in the US Airforce. After 3 years in the Airforce, Chris started work in 1992 doing plumbing and was also a welder until 1998 when he moved into estimating. Chris has been with Kreider Mechanical for over 18 years, starting as estimator and now does estimation and project management.
Ricky Sweet
Plumbing Service Manager
Ricky has over 40 years experience in the construction field. Ricky started out working with his dad as a helper when his was only 12 years old. He continued to work in the plumbing field as a career. Ricky completed his apprenticeship in 1975 with the local union 491. Ricky holds a Master plumbers license in 3 states, he holds a class A Contractors license. He is Med-Gas certified, Med-Gas inspector certified, Backflow certified, Regional FSE certified, and Certified apprentice instructor. Ricky has an associates degree in Adult Education from Purdue University and has Taught both plumbing and Code basics at VWCC.
Harold Cothran
Employee Emeritus
Harold has over 60 years experience as an Owner, Project Manager and Estimator. Harold, affectionately referred to as “Dad” around the office and in the field continues to work at the age of 80. Harold provides not only expertise to the company but a steadying influence on everyone else at KMI. He is a Graduate of Virginia Tech.
David Jewell
HVAC Service Manager
David is the HVAC Service Manager- his roles include small job estimating, Preventive Maintenance Contracts, Managing Service Calls, dispatching technicians as well as oversight of Startups, VRF installations, and controls. David has over 8 years in the industry.

Jason Ayers
Estimating
Jason currently does Mechanical estimating for Kreider Mechanical. He has been in the industry for over 25 years. He has been with Kreider Mechanical for 18 years. He started out in the field doing ductwork, then became a job supervisor. Jason moved into the office 5 years ago as an estimator and also does project management on small projects.
